Apple updates Final Cut Pro, Motion & Compressor
The key new feature of Final Cut Pro is Workflow Extensions which allow third parties to integrate into Apple’s professional video editing tool.
The initial set of extensions include Frame.io (review and approval), Shutterstock (stock footage browsing and purchasing) and CatDV (media asset management).
The initial set of extensions are available for free on the Mac App Store and new extension will be released over time.
Additional Features in Final Cut Pro
- Batch sharing of clips or projects
- Comparison Viewer window lets editors view reference images while colour grading
- A new floating timecode window
- Improved video noise reduction
- Closed captions in SRT format or burnt in
- Improved marquee selection
Motion Updates
- Colour grading tools including colour wheels, colour curves, hue/saturation curves and custom LUTs
- New comic effect filter
- New tiny planet filter
Compressor Updates
- New 64-bit engine which allows additional memory support
- Continued 32-bit support for compatibility
- Support for SRT closed captions
Pricing & Availability
Final Cut Pro 10.4.4, Motion 5.4.2 and Compressor 4.4.2 are available on the Mac App Store as free updates for existing users.
New users can purchase the apps for AUD$499.99, AUD$79.99 and AUD$79.99, respectively.
Education customers can purchase the Pro Apps Bundle for Education for AUD$299.99, which includes all three pro video apps plus Logic Pro X and MainStage.
