Office for Mac 2016 Office for Mac 365

What’s new in the Office for Mac 2016 update?

Office for Mac 2016 has been updated to version 16 and contains some great new features for businesses. To get the update open an Office app and select Check for Updates from the Help menu.

Collaborative Editing

The biggest change is that Office for Mac finally catches up with the Windows version for collaborative editing. Word, Excel and PowerPoint allow you to work on documents at the same time as others. Thumbnails in the top right will show you who else is editing or viewing the document with you. Flag icons will show where others are working and you can view their changes as they type.

Autosaving

Documents, worksheets and presentations stored in the cloud are saved automatically. You can see updates made by others in seconds and view and rollback to previous versions in seconds.

Frequent Sites & Groups

Easily access your documents on your favourite SharePoint sites and Office 365 groups from the Open and Save windows.

One for the Finance team! Multithreaded calculations!

Formulas are updated faster when values are changed, because Excel now uses multiple processing threads.

New Charts Added

If you love to use pretty charts to transform your data into professional reports there are new funnel, sunburst, histogram and maps charts.

Yay! More Functions!

Shorten the formulas you write using the new logical functions IFS and SWITCH.

Improved PivotTables Charts!

PivotTable charts now update automagically when filters are changed on the table.

Laser Pointers, QuickStarter and Trim Media

Use your mouse as laser pointer when in slide show mode. QuickStarter automatically creates an outline for your topic of choice with suggested talking points and designs that make your presentation pop. Trim media removes unwanted content from audio or video clips.

Archive or Delete with Just One Swipe

Swipe left with two fingers across the touchpad to archive email or swipe right to delete it.

One more thing! Better feature parity...

Version 16 includes a reworking of the underlying code for Office, introducing more common code between platforms to ensure better feature parity.
