Apple introduced the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16, designed with Apple Intelligence at their core. They are also releasing the all-new Apple Watch Series 10, available in fresh new colors. Apple Watch Series 10 – Bigger, faster, sleep apnea, new colours and titanium

After a decade of continuous improvement, the Apple Watch Series 10 strikes a delicate balance between expanding the display size, and maintaining its compact form factor.

Space has consistently posed a significant challenge for Apple Watch technology. Consequently, Apple has made a notable leap by increasing the display size by 30%. This enhancement comes with a 9.7mm reduction in thickness, resulting in an overall 10% slimmer design. The metal back retains water integrity while incorporating an integrated antenna.

The new wide-angle OLED display boasts a 40% increase in brightness and the remarkable ability to update the display every second, even in always-on mode. A ticking second hand will be visible on certain watch faces when the display is inactive.

Apple has also incorporated a new health feature, drawing upon existing sensors. The Apple Watch Series 10 will promptly notify users if sleep apnea is detected during the night. This will also be available in Series 9 & Ultra 2.

Charging has been significantly improved, with the ability to reach up to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes. The S10 processor, which powers intelligent on-device features, ensures optimal performance.

While Apple Intelligence is not directly coming to the Apple Watch, the new S10 chip enhances the capabilities of neural processing and machine learning-based features.

The aluminum case is available in polished jet black, rose gold, and silver. The titanium case comes in a natural polished, gold, and slate gray finish. There is also a Hermes model in silver titanium.

The Apple Watch Series 10 commences at $649 and pre-orders are open. Units will begin shipping on September 20.

Under the hood, these devices are powered by the A18 Pro chip, crafted using 2nd-generation 3nm technology. It features a 16-core Neural Engine with 17% more memory bandwidth, enabling Apple Intelligence tasks to perform up to 15% faster compared to the previous generation. The 6-core CPU comprises two performance cores and four efficiency cores, delivering 15% faster performance and 20% more efficiency. Moreover, the 6-core GPU has been enhanced with up to 20% faster performance, thanks to hardware-accelerated ray tracing, resulting in more realistic lighting in games. Additionally, the devices support faster USB-C speeds and double the data processing for video encoding.

The ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ introduces a groundbreaking “Fusion” 48-megapixel camera, equipped with a second-generation quad-pixel sensor. This innovation eliminates shutter lag for 48-megapixel ProRAW and HEIF photos, providing users with unparalleled photography experience.

The ultra-wide camera now boasts a 48-megapixel quad-pixel sensor, featuring autofocus for the first time. Additionally, the 5x tetraprism telephoto camera is now available on both the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ and ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max.

Apple has significantly enhanced Photographic Styles, enabling real-time adjustments to colors and shadows. By adapting specific tones in the image, Styles can be personalized more deeply, offering new black-and-white and natural options. Users can apply these styles during live previews or after capturing the photo.

The 48-megapixel Fusion camera on the ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ takes video recording to new heights. It supports 4K120 fps capture in full HDR, allowing users to create stunning slo-mo or regular videos. Playback options include 120, 60, 30, or 24 fps, with intelligent audio treatment that effectively reduces wind noise. The ability to capture spatial audio enhances the immersive nature of recordings, especially when paired with AirPods or Apple Vision Pro.

The Camera Control, a dedicated sapphire crystal button with haptic feedback, is designed exclusively for camera app functions. A single click launches the camera app, while a double click takes a picture, and holding the button records video. The Camera Control also offers touch gestures, allowing users to distinguish between a click and a lighter press. A light press reveals a new, clean preview, helping users focus on framing the shot, while a new overlay provides quick access to camera functions like zoom and switching between lenses. Users can press lightly twice to reveal additional controls and slide to the preferred one.

Later this year, the Camera Control will be updated to include a feature called “Focus and Exposure Lock,” which allows users to lock focus and exposure with a half-press.

The Camera Control also introduces “Visual Intelligence,” a new Apple Intelligence feature exclusive to the iPhone 16 lineup. Visual Intelligence is invoked by the Camera Control, enabling users to point their iPhone’s camera at an object and pull up contextual details, such as information about a restaurant, or take actions like filling out a calendar event.

The iPhone 16 Pro supports Spatial Audio capture during video recording, providing a more immersive experience when using AirPods or Apple Vision Pro. A new Audio Mix feature uses machine learning to identify and separate background audio and speech. For instance, “In-Frame Mix” isolates the voice of the person on camera, while “Cinematic Mix” handles audio like a movie, with on-screen audio in front and environmental noises in the surroundings.

Battery life is improved with up to 33 hours on the iPhone 16 Pro Max, enhanced by a new mechanical architecture and advanced power management. This results in 20% better sustained performance due to improved heat dissipation.

The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $1,799 for 128GB and $2,149 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max with 256GB. They are available for pre-order on Friday and launch on September 20.
