The New Apple TV 4K Explained: Hands-Free Siri AI, Surround Sound & Price
The new Apple TV 4K explained: hands-free Siri AI, four-speaker surround sound with HomePod, a new Siri Remote, A$449 and availability from 13 November.

Apple has announced a new fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. It has built-in microphones for hands-free Siri AI, a new Siri Remote and support for four-speaker surround sound with HomePod. In Australia it costs A$4491, and it is available from Friday 13 November 2026. This guide covers what is new and whether you need it. It is part of our Welcome Home coverage.
Siri AI on your TV
Apple TV 4K now has Siri AI, a conversational, full-screen experience for finding something to watch. For example, you can ask which Apple TV shows won Emmy Awards this year and see poster art and follow-up suggestions on screen. Siri AI is rolling out in English, and Apple says usage limits apply.
Three far-field microphones are built into the box, so you can talk to Siri from across the room without picking up the remote. When you set it up with your iPhone or iPad, Siri can also draw on your personal context.
A faster chip
The new model delivers even faster performance than the one it replaces. It supports 4K Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos.
The new Siri Remote
The Siri Remote (4th generation) has a touch-enabled clickpad and one-touch access to Siri. It now works with Find My. If it goes missing, you can have it play a sound and find it with Precision Finding on an iPhone.
Surround sound with HomePod
For the first time you can pair four speakers with Apple TV 4K for surround sound. You can use four HomePod mini 2 speakers or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers. The speakers calibrate timing and levels to the room automatically. See our HomePod mini 2 guide.
A smart home hub
Apple TV 4K works as a home hub, so you can control your accessories remotely through the Home app. Apple Intelligence now writes descriptions of camera activity and summarises notifications in the Home app. You can also control accessories hands-free by voice. If you also want a screen in the home, see our HomeView guide.
What you need
You need a TV with HDMI and a network connection, either wireless or wired Ethernet. The box contains Apple TV 4K, the Siri Remote and a power cord. HDMI and USB-C cables are sold separately. The picture quality you get depends on your TV and your cable.
Price and availability
Apple TV 4K costs A$4491 in Australia. Pre-orders opened on 14 October.
Do you need the new one?
Siri AI is not only for the new box. Apple says it will also come to some earlier Apple TV 4K models in a software update. The built-in microphones and the four-speaker surround setup are what the new hardware adds. If you are happy with your current Apple TV, check which features you actually want first.
