Is Apple One Worth It in Australia?
Apple One bundles Apple Music, Apple TV, Arcade, iCloud+ and more. See what each Australian plan includes, what it costs and when it is worth it.
If you pay for more than one Apple subscription, Apple One can bring them together for a lower monthly price. Whether it saves you money depends on which services you actually use.
The three plans
Individual costs A$24.95 per month1 and includes Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Arcade and 50GB of iCloud+ storage.
Family costs A$34.95 per month1 and includes the same services with 200GB of iCloud+ storage, shared with up to five other people. Each person gets their own private access.
Premier costs A$52.95 per month1 and adds Apple News+, Apple Fitness+ and 2TB of iCloud+ storage, also shared with up to five others.
Apple says the plans save up to 47 per cent compared with paying for each service separately. All plans are monthly, with no lock-in.
When it is worth it
As a rule of thumb, Apple One pays off if you already use at least two of the included services. If you only pay for iCloud+ storage, or only Apple Music, buying that one service on its own is cheaper.
Storage is often the deciding factor. Many families need more than 200GB once everyone’s photos and phone backups are in iCloud, which makes Premier, with 2TB, the better fit. Our guide to backing up an iPhone or iPad explains how backups use that space.
When it is not
If you would not use Apple Arcade, Fitness+ or News+, you may be paying for services you do not need. Add up what you pay now for the services you actually use, and compare it with the plan that covers them.
How to sign up
On your iPhone, iPad or Mac, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Apple One. If you already pay for individual Apple services, Apple suggests a plan when it would save you money. You can cancel at any time, at least a day before your renewal date.
