AppleCare One Arrives in Australia: Is Apple’s Multi-Device Plan Worth It?

AppleCare One comes to Australia on 4 August, covering up to three Apple products in one monthly plan. See what it includes, what it costs and who it suits.

Apple has announced that AppleCare One is coming to Australia. From 4 August, you can cover several Apple products under one monthly plan, instead of buying separate AppleCare+ for each device.

What it is

AppleCare One costs A$29.99 per month1 and covers up to three products. You can add more for A$8.99 per month1 each. It includes everything in AppleCare+: unlimited repairs for accidental damage, including spills, battery replacement when the battery wears down, and round-the-clock priority support from Apple. Repairs use genuine Apple parts at Apple Stores and authorised service providers.

For iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, it also covers theft and loss, with up to three claims a year across the plan.

Cover the devices you already own

Unlike AppleCare+, which you normally buy with a new device, AppleCare One lets you add devices you already have. Most products under four years old and in good working order can be added. If you already have AppleCare+, you can switch from your iPhone, iPad or Mac.

When you trade in a covered device and buy a new one from Apple, the new device takes its place on your plan automatically. You can add or remove devices at any time, and cancel whenever you like.

Is it good value?

It depends on how many devices you want covered. Apple says someone covering an iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch can save up to A$18.48 per month1 compared with separate AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss plans.

If you only want to cover one iPhone, separate AppleCare+ is cheaper, from A$14.49 per month1. AppleCare One makes sense once you have three or more products to protect, especially devices you already own that are not covered.

Remember that Australian Consumer Law already protects you against faulty products, separately from any AppleCare plan.

How to sign up

From 4 August, you can sign up at an Apple Store or in Settings on your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
