WWDC 2026: Siri AI, iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate
WWDC 2026 recap: Apple's rebuilt Siri AI, new parental controls and the next iOS and macOS, with links to our full guide to each.

Apple held its WWDC 2026 keynote on Monday 8 June, US time, and previewed the next versions of all of its software: iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 (named Golden Gate), watchOS 27, visionOS 27 and tvOS 27. The headline is Siri AI, a rebuilt version of Siri, alongside the next generation of Apple Intelligence and a new set of parental controls.
This page is a short summary. Each part has its own guide, linked below.
Siri AI
Siri AI is an entirely new version of Siri. It can draw on your personal context to find things across your messages, email and photos, answer questions about what is on your screen, and take actions across your apps just by asking. It can also look up current information on the web.
On the Mac you can choose “Ask Siri” as the top result when you search in Spotlight. A new Siri app keeps your conversations in one place, synced across your Apple devices.
Siri AI needs newer hardware than the new software itself, and it starts in English. Our guide to Siri AI and Apple Intelligence covers what it does, which devices can run it and what it means for your privacy. For the earlier Siri changes, see our WWDC 2024 article.
Apple Intelligence in the apps you already use
Photos gains Spatial Reframing, which lets you change the framing of a photo after you have taken it, and Extend, which expands a shot beyond its original edges. The Clean Up tool is also better at removing distractions from complicated scenes.
Safari can group your tabs into topics automatically, and a feature called Notify Me watches a page for changes such as a price drop or a restock. Shortcuts adds Describe a Shortcut, where you explain what you want to automate and the steps are put together for you.
iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate
iOS 27 runs on the iPhone 11 and later. macOS 27 Golden Gate needs a Mac with Apple silicon, so Intel Macs cannot run it. Apple has also refined its Liquid Glass design, with a new slider that lets you choose how transparent it looks.
We have a separate guide to each: iOS 27 on the iPhone and macOS Golden Gate.
New parental controls
Apple announced new parental controls for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Ask to Browse makes a child ask permission before visiting a new website in Safari, Communication Safety extends its protections, and Screen Time has been redesigned.
Our guide to what to set up first walks through it step by step.
Getting ready
Before you install a major update, make sure you have a current backup and check that the apps you rely on will keep working. Our checklist, before you update to iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate, covers the steps.
