Apple’s Wonderlust Event: iPhone 15, Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2
Apple has announced the iPhone 15 family with USB-C, Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, and AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case.
Apple’s Wonderlust event introduced the iPhone 15 family, Apple Watch Series 9, Apple Watch Ultra 2 and AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case. The switch from Lightning to USB-C is the change most likely to affect every new iPhone buyer.
iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus
The standard models gain Dynamic Island, the A16 Bionic chip and a 48-megapixel main camera. The colour is infused into the back glass, and the frame has a softer contoured edge.
USB-C replaces Lightning for charging and accessories. That should simplify charging over time, but existing Lightning cables and accessories may need an adapter or replacement.
iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max
The Pro models move to a lighter titanium frame, add a programmable Action button and use the new A17 Pro chip. USB-C supports faster data transfer on the Pro models when used with the right cable and equipment.
The Pro Max adds a 5x telephoto camera, while both Pro models improve the main and ultra-wide cameras. These are the models for buyers who need the strongest camera and performance options.
Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2
Both watches use the new S9 chip and introduce a double-tap gesture for common actions using the watch hand. Series 9 has a brighter display, while Ultra 2 keeps the larger rugged design and extends display brightness further.
Apple is also highlighting lower-carbon combinations of watch and band. The product choice should still start with size, battery life and activity needs rather than the environmental label alone.
AirPods Pro move to USB-C
AirPods Pro keep the same second-generation earbuds but receive a USB-C charging case. That helps households move towards one cable type across iPhone, iPad, Mac and AirPods.
There is no need to replace working AirPods Pro only for the connector change unless simplifying charging is especially valuable.
Before changing cables
The new products arrive later this month. Check cars, docks, microphones, storage devices and other accessories before assuming every USB-C cable supports the same charging speed, data speed or video output.
The standard iPhone 15 receives a substantial upgrade, while the Pro models focus on materials, camera reach and performance. USB-C is the broadest practical change across the range.
