What’s new with the iPad announced today?

Apple announced a new 9.7 inch iPad today at an event in Chicago focused on Education. The new iPad starts at $469 (or $439 for schools and uni students) and is available immediately.

What's new with the iPad?

  • Apple Pencil Support
  • A10 Fusion Processor
  • New Gold Colour

There new Apple A10 Fusion processor enables AR support and today's event also brought new iOS versions of Pages, Number and Keynote with Apple Pencil support. Pages also now allow you to create interactive Books that can be shared through the iBooks application on macOS and iOS.

What's hasn't changed?

  • 10 Hours of Battery
  • 8 Megapixel Rear Camera with support for 1080p Video
  • Front Facing FaceTime HD camera
  • Optional LTE 
  • Still no Smart Connector, only available on Pro models
  • No TrueTone support, only available on Pro models
