What to expect at the Apple October event

Apple has invited the media to an October event in New York City on the 30 October with all clues pointing to the launch of a new iPad Pro & new MacBook/MacBook Air.

The follows closely the launch the new iPhone XS & XR models at its Apple Park Steve Jobs Theatre in September.

The There's more in the making event will be held at Brooklyn Academy of Music, Howard Gilman Opera House, on 31st October at 1am (ADST) in New York.

Most Likely - iPad Pro 3

The new iPad Pro is expected to feature an iPhone X-like design with no home button and slimmer bezels. It is also rumoured to include a TrueDepth camera system for Face ID which will work in both portrait and landscape modes. It won't get the upgrade to OLED and will stick with a high end LCD display. There are repeated rumours that Apple will move from a Lightning port to USB-C. Also, say goodbye to the headphone jack.

Apple Pencil 2

Apple is also rumoured to launch the Apple Pencil 2 alongside the updated iPad Pro. The primary new feature will be a Apple W1 chip which would allow pairing by proximity and use on multiple devices. Less likely rumours are a digital eraser at the end and interchangeable nibs.

New MacBook / MacBook Air

The current MacBook Air is \ outdated and the current 12-inch MacBook is too expensive. Apple is looking at merging the two in a new "low priced" MacBook. The new laptop is rumoured to be 13 inch with slimmer bezels than currently available. It will likely only include USB-C ports but we are hoping for at least 2!

iMacs & Mac Minis

There have been a few rumours of spec bumps on the iMac and a redesigned Pro version of the Mac mini.

What else might be included?

The long delayed AirPower charging mat announced last year is still being referenced in the latest iOS builds and may make an appearance.

There have been a couple of whispers about a new version of Apple’s AirPods in ear wireless headphones. Also some hints of lower priced version of the HomePod speaker.

Apple has also been know to quietly launch some products with just a press release around this time of year.
