Apple MacBook, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro

Which Apple MacBook is the best?

MacBook vs Macbook Air vs MacBook Pro

If you are reading this you are probably considering buying a new MacBook. Fortunately we have bought one or two over the years and can help find the right one for you.

The most affordable one - MacBook Air

The MacBook Air is Apple’s most affordable laptop. Apple offers two 13-inch models and it is ideal for the budget conscious. It’s also for anyone who is always on the go and needs a computer that’s more versatile than an iPad.

The MacBook Air is capable of handling everyday tasks, such as sending and receiving email, browsing the web, and using Microsoft Office applications. It is a great affordable laptop for someone who moves around a lot, such as a student, consultant or sales person. It doesn't include the Retina display that the other two have and you can’t easily upgrade the storage  so you should buy the model with the largest amount of storage you can afford.

The super light one - MacBook

The MacBook is Apple’s smallest and lightest laptop. Apple offers two 12-inch models and it comes in rose gold, space gray, gold, or silver. It is ideal for those that prioritise mobility over everything else, including performance. It’s for anyone who is always on the go and doesn't often need to connect their MacBook to other devices.

It's performance is slightly above the Air, includes a high resolution Retina display but only includes one connector, USB-C for power and accessories. The need to carry a few dongles may inhibit it's portability. The MacBook is capable of handling all your everyday tasks and with the Retina display even a little professional design tasks. It is a super light laptop for someone who is always on the go, needs a high quality screen and values style over performance.

The fastest one - MacBook Pro

The MacBook Pro is for the power user who wants a light computer that also performs. This one is the top performing Mac laptop and comes in 13 and 15 inch models. It has a high resolution Retina display and outperforms the Air by a significant margin.

The MacBook Pro is capable of handling all your everyday tasks and intensive professional design and development work. It is a powerful laptop for someone who needs a more powerful machine or a larger screen, such as a graphic designer. The MacBook Pro is at the top end of Apple’s laptop lineup in terms of performance with the 15inch model having the best performance including Thunderbolt 3 to with data transfer speeds of 40Gbps.

Great but I'm still not sure

The MacBook Air is a great affordable choice for most users with a great balance of features. We recommend paying the extra for the higher storage model if you can. If you want a super light laptop or want the Retina display without the price of the MacBook Pro you could step up to the MacBook. We recommend the higher end model as it has a significant performance boost over the other.

For those that want the best of the best the MacBook Pro

is the option for you. We recommend the 13-inch model with Touch Bar, 3.1GHz processor and 256GB of storage as the best price and performance balance.

Don't forget to check out Apple's refurbished store if you are looking for a discounted option.

Still not sure, we can help you pick the best MacBook to suit your requirements.
